One multi-million dollar Vancouver school project was unveiled and another given the green light over the span of three days last week.

Kitty corner to Rogers Arena, Crosstown Elementary opened its doors March 27 and was feted with a public unveiling three days later.

Encompassing 4,500 square feet and four storeys, the $19.7 million facility includes a Neighbourhood Learning Centre and two multipurpose rooms.

Come September, it will house 500 students from kindergarten to Grade 7.

The province footed $15.4 million of the tab, while the VSB picked up $3.5 million. The city pitched in $760,000 towards the building of one of the two multipurpose rooms.

Maple Grove elementary’s moment in the sun came came on March 29, when the province announced $24.4 million in funding to replace the Kerrisdale school.

The re-build will happen alongside the existing school, located on Cypress Street and 46th Avenue, and will be open by the fall of 2020. A Neighbourhood Learning Centre will also be housed on the site, and the school will house up to 500 students.
