A pedestrian has died after getting hit by a car early Thursday morning.
Just after 6 a.m. a 43-year-old Vancouver man was driving east on Marine Drive when he struck a pedestrian who was crossing mid-block near Ross Street. Several bystanders provided first aid until paramedics arrived and rushed the man to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Vancouver police are currently working with the BC Coroners Service to confirm the man’s identity.
The driver, his wife and small child were also taken to hospital to be assessed and he is cooperating with investigators.
The death is the city’s fifth pedestrian fatality of the year.
