Kitty caboodle

This is to the owner(s) of China White, the West End cat that went missing, only to be found three weeks later. Postering every second pole to advise people to look for your cat was one thing (some might say overkill); but, did you have to go out and do the same to announce that shed been found? Perhaps an ad in a paper like this and a donation to the BCSPCA would have been less intrusive?

Root cause?

That Vancouverites are a different breed altogether is widely known throughout the country. To start a campaign to save dying house plants inside an abandoned restaurant underlines our tree-hugging reputation [Ophaned plants spark vigilante campaign on Denman, Aug. 18]. Are these the same people who step over homeless, mostly mentally ill fellow citizens on the sidewalkwhile giving them a look of disgust? Perhapsyour misplaced energy to save plants could be used for more worthwhile causes.

Mixed signals

To say that this latest move to digital TV wont affect any of us is simply untrue. To get an entertainment system that I can watch is going to cost me about $600 and countless hours of trying to get through to Shaw. Not to mention the fact that in the last year or two Ive had to throw out a VCR, a DVD player and now a DVR. Mindless entertainment plus a lot of tasteless, repetitive ads to appease youngsters? There are more mature people in Canada that are not of the same mindset. We need to get rid of waste and clean up our environment.
