Face-off over hockey

Hey Lincoln (Puck the Nucks, May 5), dont know where youve been the last 40 years but weve kinda always had a huge crush on the Canucks around here. I dont see them going anywhere anytime, soon so guess its up to you to puck off!!!

In the bag

Hey Anonymous, I am truly sorry you had to step in a pile of crap after seeing a movie the other night. Yes it is frustrating as you can see from other comments both for and against the argument that people pick up after their pets. I wanted to simply say that comparatively we here in Vancouver really do pick up the poop. Sure, there is always gonna be someone who is insensitive enough to forget about it or probably more often than not perhaps fido has done number two for the third time and there was only one baggie a bad calculation to be sure and embarrassing! Nobody and no city is perfect but I think it is important to create a sense of pride about what we do do (pardon the pun) rather than simply complain about it. I stand by the opinion that we do a great job of poopie scooping but I understand the frustration about stepping in it. Really, I do. One pile in a busy area (like I said before) makes it seem like its everywhere because everyone coming out of that door has the same crappy story. Its OK though, you can blame me personally with my good-natured Pollyanna attitude an all! P.S. Use baking soda and water, it wont stain and takes the smell out of leather and fabric shoes.

Get off the sidewalk

Whats with all these morons who have to go jogging down sidewalks crowded with pedestrians? Today, on the very crowded Burrard Bridge sidewalk idiot after fitness-obsessed idiot came running through us, almost knocking some of us over, never saying excuse me, not aware what a pain-in-the-ass they were and likely too doped up on endorphins to even notice. Listen here joggers, sidewalks are for pedestrians. Thats right, people who walk. You only have the right to run on a sidewalk if it is otherwise empty, or if youre running for a bus, late to see your sweetie, or running from a cop, or if youre after a jogger. Go run in the traffic!

A win-win situation

In response to: Puck the Nucks, May 5. The Canucks playing in the playoffs doesnt happen often and once a year, it gives this city a good positive energized buzz that it needs! And something for everyone to be proud of: our team! And our national name: Canucks! Its also good for the local economy: it brings in revenue through the restaurants/bars, and sales of thousands of flags/T-shirts/jerseys/towels that read, Go Canucks go! In fact, its also good for the environment. BC Hydro discovered that during the game nights, power usage goes way down because families everywhere are all glued to their TV sets and not using other electrical sources that take up power, so everyone wins! Theres hundreds or thousands of us that enjoy watching/cheering and yes, taking part by waving our beautiful colour Canucks flags to show our support and pride for our national team the Vancouver Canucks!
