Go Canucks Go!

Dear Lincoln: Im sorry your mother named you Lincoln and you turned out to be such a miserable twerp. Im not a hockey fan but I dont mind celebrating in other peoples happiness. Even with a name like Lincoln, I still think you are human. Scotty cant help you hes only pretend. So lighten up, stop breaking glass on the bike lanes and say Go Canucks Go! It wont hurt.

Thanks for the tow

On Tuesday May 17 my car, a grey Honda Civic, stalled on West Fourth at about 3pm.

A guy in a black jeep asked if I wanted him to pull me to a gas station. He attached a rope and he towed me to Midas at Fourth and Arbutus. When we got there, he detached the car, pushed me to the parking area, and by the time I got out to thank him he had hopped into his jeep and took off down the alley! What a humble guy and such a fabulous person. I hope you read this. You made my day. Others could learn from you!

My carbon footprint is smaller than yours

Re: Give them shelter (May 12). Nobody can argue with that, its a very politically correct position to take. But whats with this bashing of cyclists? Whats that got to do with providing shelter for the homeless? I dont understand. What has my riding a bicycle for the last 40 years got to do with homelesseness? I work in housing, I agree housing is an absolute right of every Canadian especially with our climate, and Im not talking about Vancouvers climate which is a lot different. But why bring the bicycles into it? Whats that got to do with it? Why smash my mode of transportation? This was an adult decision I made some 40 years ago, a lifestyle decision. My carbon footprint probably looks a lot better than your carbon footprint, fellow citizens of this planet. But you know, lets house the homeless but dont start smashing the bike lanes. It was one of the smartest things civic administration has done in the last 20 years in this city.

Protect your coconut

This is for cyclists who dont wear helmets. I want you to go out and buy a coconut and then I want you take the coconut out onto the sidewalk and give it a good whack onto the sidewalk you know, as if you were tumbling off your bike and your head were to strike the sidewalk. Whack! And watch this beautiful coconut crack, OK? Now your skull is 10 times more likely to crack than that coconut. And you know what? If you dont have a helmet, thats what happens. So go out and buy yourself a helmet if you dont have one because otherwise youre just asking for tragedy terrible, terrible, tragedy in your life, OK? So go buy a bloody helmet.

Talkin bout a revolution

Isnt it time for a revolution in beautiful British Columbia? We are being ripped off royally by not only the government, but by the fact that we live here. Highest rents in North America are here. The highest real estate costs are here in the Lower Mainland. The highest user-fees for anything we can think of are right here in British Columbia. The highest liquor prices are here in British Columbia. We pay the highest taxes and also the highest price for generic drugs. Can someone give us a break? I think its time for a revolution here. We have been ripped off for years because this is the most beautiful place in the world to live. Give me a god damn break right now. Lets rebel. Lets do something about it. Lets tell the government. Lets tell the world how we are being ripped off. Or are we too laid-back, sitting in Starbucks texting and talking on cellphones, to do anything about? Probably. I hope not. Lets do it now, please.
