Danke!
A thank you/danke to the tall German man in the silver Mercedes with consular plates who cameup to my parked car on Sunday evening to warn me that I had closed the car door with my coat belt hanging outside. I appreciated not driving downtown with the mark of fool on me as my belt flapped in the wind. That was very neighbourly!

Be nice, please
I am an assistant manager at a small local gift shop. As we commence with the holiday shopping season I would like to pass on a few tips to make everyones shopping experience much sweeter. Be nice to the associates. They usually dont get paid much more thanminimumwage. Its not easy to be happy, peppy, enthusiastic, attentive and on your feet for eight hours a day, five days a week. Remember we are people with feelings which can be hurt if you are being an asshole. The nicer you are the better service youll get. Dont tell us to rush because you are in a hurry. Thats rude and its not our fault you have poor time management skills. Read the return policy and dont get mad at us because you didnt. We just relay the info. Sometimes we think they are lame too. One more thing, clothing is the worst gift to buy someone. It usually comes back cause no matter how well you know someone you are unlikely to get the size right.

A self-centred cause
The so-called protesters are mostly displaying an unfounded sense of entitlement, self-centeredness and self-absorption. By what possible logic does any taxpayer owe them anything? They have the time and resources to camp out on city land, use up taxpayer-funded city and provincial resources and they want affordable housing?I dont think so! Our mayor suffers from a sense of entitlement also and lack of leadership and taking responsibility. He allowed unlawful behaviour and ignoring of bylaws to go on past the due date. Why is there one set of bylaws for the Falun Gong and any other citizen and another for the downtown protestors?I would suggest: cut off the media, cut off the power, remove all services. This is what one does when a child is having a tantrum. Remove the audience! I remind everyone of the quote You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

We are all subsidizers
To the woman who was complaining about subsidizing transit with her gas tax: Id rather not subsidize your driving with my rent, but thats what Im doing when accommodating all the drivers who require roads that take up one third of the real estate in the city, driving up land costs, housing prices, and property taxes. Think about it. Whos really subsidizing whom here?
