A Red Scorpion gangster, with ties to Richmond and a dial-a-dope operation busted last August by Delta police, has been sentenced to more than seven years behind bars after pleading guilty to several charges last week.

In Richmond provincial court, Khaadim Kwame Coddett plead guilty to trafficking drugs including fentanyl, carfentanil and heroin, and possession of a loaded handgun.

A number of other charges were stayed in both provincial and Supreme Court.

The guilty pleas come after both the prosecution and defence reached a deal on several of the charges.

Richmond provincial court judge Nancy Adams also imposed a lifetime weapons ban on Coddett.

Delta police public affairs coordinator Cris Leykauf said police are pleased with the judge’s decision and the sentence, but could not comment further as there are more accused involved in this file.

Coddett was among seven individuals that police arrested and charged in an operation dubbed Project Green Planet – a significant drug line operation that was based in South Delta.

Originally, DPD had secured 94 charges – the majority against Red Scorpion gang members.

The DPD drug section initiated Project Green Planet in March 2017 after police were alerted to the presence of a drug line of the same name. It was operated as a dial-a-dope line, that supplied South Delta and Vancouver.

DPD officers began their project with street level drug purchases, then gradually investigators identified the line managers and suppliers to be Red Scorpion gang members and associates.
