Richmond RCMP are looking for help identifying a suspect who snatched a purse from an elderly woman earlier this month.
The victim, in her early nineties, was walking with another woman through the parking lot in the 7100 block of No. 3 Road, near Granville Ave., on June 17. The RCMP responded to a call from a business shortly after 6 p.m.
The suspect approached the two women from behind. After grabbing the victim’s purse, he fled on foot towards Bennet Road, which is just off of No. 3 Road.
“This was a truly callous and despicable act,” said Cpl. Dennis Hwang. “The victim is in her 90’s. We would ask that anyone in the community who has information, dash cam footage, or who can identify the suspect from the security footage to please contact us.”
According to the RCMP, the victim “was visibly shaken up but not injured.”
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his late teens or early twenties, with a thin build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black baseball cap, black hoodie, black shorts and black running shoes.
