The Vancouver Giants have traded their sixth round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft to the Edmonton Oil Kings for 18-year-old left winger Tristan Sieben. The 5'9", 187-pound Edmonton native posted 14 points and 32 penalty minutes in his rookie campaign last year while helping the Oil Kings to their first WHL Championship in franchise history.
The Giants play their first game of the regular season on Friday (Sept. 21) against the Victoria Royals.
Finding fame
The B.C. Football Hall of Fame has announced their latest round of inductees to make the cut.
This year's hall of famers include former B.C. Lions Tom Hinton, Joe Kapp, Alan Wilson and By Bailey, who scored the team's very first touchdown back in 1954.
Former Leos bench boss Cal Murphy and former UBC coach Frank Smith were inducted in the builder category along with former CFL president Allan McEachern and former Lions team doctor Ken Appleby.
Other inductees include former Lions presi-dents Harry Spring (pioneer) and Jack Farley (CFL Bob Ackles Award), broadcasters Jim Cox and Bill Good Sr. (media) and the team's indefatigable, 94-year-old band leader, Dal Richards (B.C. Football Hall of Fame Special Award).
The class of 2012 will be honoured at the Lions' Oct. 6 game at BC Place against the Calgary Stampeders.
Thrown to the Wolves
The NHL lockout means the Chicago Wolves will be well-stocked indefinitely with a number of the Canucks' semi-regular roster members. Zack Kassian, Guillaume Desbiens, Andrew Ebbett and Chris Tanev are among the NHL veterans who will be joining Surrey's Prab Rai on the team's AHL affiliate to start the season.
