Sinclair unveils logo for 2015 World Cup

Canada hosts largest women's soccer tournament on the planet

On Dec. 14, Four days after Christine Sinclair received the 2012 Lou Marsh Award as Canada's most outstanding athlete, the soccer star was on hand in Vancouver for the official unveiling of the FIFA 2015 Women's World Cup logo.

The tournament will be held in six Canadian cities, including Vancouver, the first time a single-sport tournament will be hosted across the country. It is also the biggest in the history of women's soccer with 24 nations competing.

The popularity of women's soccer reached a new high in Canada this summer when Canada's Olympic team earned a bronze medal at the London Games after a controversial loss to the U.S.

The World Cup will be held in June and July of 2015. Canada was awarded the event by acclamation in 2011 after Zimbabwe - the only other nation to bid for the tournament - withdrew.
