As if nursery rhymes aren’t creepy enough, the folks behind the Stanley Park Halloween Ghost Train have created a twisted vision of the Mother Goose universe.

Mother Goose’s Ghastly Garden kicks off this Friday (Oct. 10) and will include nightmarish takes on classic childhood tales just in time for Halloween – a collapsed bridge, a little girl terrorized by a spider, and a hysterical mother living in a shoe.

The Ghost Train will take travelers over trestles and through tunnels on a two-kilometre journey through the forest, and will feature live theatrical performances every night.

Along with the train ride, the site will include the Spooky Barn and a lantern-lit nature walk with the Stanley Park Ecological Society. There will also be pumpkin carving on Oct. 14 and 21, and a costume contest on Oct. 28, with prizes awarded for originality, personality, and overall design.
