A suspected stolen truck was involved in a multi-vehicle collision that sent four people to hospital, including two people in the truck, in East Vancouver on Saturday night.

The chain of events that led to the collision began just after 5 p.m., Vancouver police say. Officers in a patrol car turned on their lights and sirens to pull over a suspected stolen pick-up truck on Main Street near  Pender. A short time later, on Main at Prior Street, the truck collided with a white Ford Focus. The truck then bounced into vehicled parked along the east side of Main Street.

Police arrested the two occupants of the truck and transported them to the hospital for medical assessment. At least two other people involved in the collission were taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit is investigationg what may have led to the collision. The Independent Investigations Office of B.C., which looks into police-related incidents, has been notified and is monitoring the investigation.
