EARTH DAY PARADE

Mark April 22 on your calendar for the annual Vancouver Earth Day Parade and Festival. The family-friendly event is hosted by youth and students from Youth for Climate Justice. The festival will feature activities such as school/art competitions, music, a family tent, and hands-on activities, youth performers, and guest speakers. It runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grandview and Commercial Drive just north of Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain Station. The parade will proceed northwards on Commercial Drive and on to Grandview Park, where the Earth Day festival celebration is. The group's goal is to raise awareness and show its concern about the effects of climate change as it is at the forefront of environmental issues today. "Youth are inheriting the world and feel the need to take action to not just make Vancouver, but the global community a healthier and better place to live in," organizers said.
