Support Buy Local Week and save the local economy, OK?

Black Friday’s come and gone and we assume everyone’s settled in nicely with their new electronics and/or home furnishings, most of which have been manufactured in impoverished nations and help feed the bottom lines of multinational corporations.

Black Friday’s come and gone and we assume everyone’s settled in nicely with their new electronics and/or home furnishings, most of which have been manufactured in impoverished nations and help feed the bottom lines of multinational corporations. Which is, y’know, OK. No criticism here.

But maybe it’s time to support the local businesses. Hm? Maybe? Even just for a week…?

And – hey, look at this! BC Buy Local Week happens to launch today. The annual celebration is designed to illuminate the local market and local products more visible – and attractive – to consumers.

Buy Local Week runs until Dec. 7 in cities across the province, including Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey and Whistler. So if you feel like fueling the economy and supporting some local businesses with owners that are just trying to feed their families and fulfill important lifelong dreams, go buy local. It’ll make you feel good.
