Following their gold medal performance in PyeongChang earlier this week, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir are not only the darlings of figure skating, they’ve also quickly become the darlings of social media.
The pair claimed gold in ice dance in their final performance, setting a world record in the short program and garnering praise from a slew of well-known Canadian compatriots in the process. One tweet in particular, and the response, has been burning up the Twittersphere.
Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds, who has two young kids with wife Blake Lively, is known for his social media antics, tweeted out praise for Team Canada, freestyle skier Cassie Sharpe, and Virtue and Moir.
“Go @TeamCanada!! @CassieSharpe is a legend — makin’ it look easy. And thank you @tessavirtue & @ScottMoir for agreeing to raise my children as your own.”

Virtue, who along with her partner has announced a retirement from the sport, had an even funnier response, tweeting:
“And here I’ve been wracking my brain to come up with a post-competition career path… Scott, get the mini van!”

Since their gold-medal performance the pair has been all over social media, from fans hoping there is a romantic connection to Moir’s reactions during the dramatic gold medal faceoff between Canada and the United States in women’s hockey.
