A few years ago I lost my mother to a rare disease. As I continued to get more involved with the Rare Disease Foundation, I was drawn to all those parents who have to deal with the loss of such young lives, explains Bakshi.

The race is open to teams of two in committed relationships including same-sex partners, common-law couples, engaged couples or couples who are already married.

Teams are given clues that lead them to different destinations where they are directed to perform a tasks.

Last years winners, Nick and Jenny Saranchuk, had been married for five years when they competed. As parents themselves, they joined to have a fun day out as a couple but also to support the foundation.

Entry is $150 and space is limited to 50 couples. To register, go to DiamondRace.ca.
