Ucluelet RCMP have deemed the disappearance of Squamish resident Daniel Archbald and his friend Ryan Daley as suspicious.
"We ask anyone who has any information as to Daniel and Ryan's whereabouts or anyone who may have seen them or talked to them between May 13 to 16 to call police immediately," said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson in a news release on June 6.
"We are continuing our investigation into Daniel and Ryan's disappearance and have no evidence to suggest that this case is linked to any other missing person investigation at this time."
Since the two went missing, Ucluelet RCMP say officers have pursued a number of investigative avenues in an effort to locate 37-year-old Archbald, and Daley, who is 43.
This included search and rescue team efforts, as well as an aerial search.
The case has been handed over to the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit.
Previously it was reported that both men planned to hitch a ride back to Jordan River, just outside Victoria.
The pair were last seen travelling on foot with their possessions.
Surveillance footage shows the two leaving Ucluelet Harbour on May 16 around 1:34 p.m.
Archbald lives in Squamish with his partner and two children.
Both men have spent extensive time on Vancouver Island and are physically fit and experienced travellers, according to family.
Archbald is described as 5’9 with blonde hair and blue eyes. Daley has light brown hair and blue eyes and is also 5’9.
