Three arrested for allegedly target shooting in Burnaby park

Three people are in custody and face firearms charges after they allegedly used a Burnaby park for target practice Wednesday night. Police responded to a report of "loud bangs" being heard in Confederation Park in North Burnaby at about 8:40 p.m.

Three people are in custody and face firearms charges after they allegedly used a Burnaby park for target practice Wednesday night.

Police responded to a report of "loud bangs" being heard in Confederation Park in North Burnaby at about 8:40 p.m., according to an Burnaby RCMP press release.

Upon arrival, officers found three people who appeared to have been target shooting in the park with a hunting rifle.

Two men and one woman were taken into custody.

Police dogs searched the park, but no injured people or animals were found, according to the release.

None of the people arrested is known to police.
