Top 5 things to do in Vancouver tonight: Feb. 5, 2015

Get shaken, not stirred: Stand-up guy Ian Boothby launches a new comedy event featuring the world’s favourite superspy at the Rio Theatre.

Get shaken, not stirred: Stand-up guy Ian Boothby launches a new comedy event featuring the world’s favourite superspy at the Rio Theatre. James Bond may be impossible to kill but he can now be openly parodied after the licensing rights to Ian Fleming’s most famous character entered the public domain at the start of the new year. Starring The Critical Hit Show’s Allen Morrison as 007 and featuring The Fictionals’ Barbara Kozicki, The Gentlemen Hecklers’ Eric Fell and Vancouver Theatreports’ Nick Harrison, James Bond Live: A New Interactive Comedy starts at 8 p.m. Costumes strongly encouraged.

Get hotboxed: The late Bob Marley would’ve turned the big 7-0 today if his Rastafarian beliefs hadn’t prevented him from taking his doctor’s advice to have a cancerous toe amputated. So that's another thing we have religion to thank for. The reggae legend’s legacy, if not his sound medical opinions, will be paid homage to tonight in the Tiki Room at the Waldorf with DJs Jah B, Lt. Irie, and Tank Gyal stirring it up.

Get on the bandwagon: With two goals in his first three NHL games, rookie fourth-line winger Ronalds Kenins currently has the best goals-per-game average in Canucks history and the team’s unexpectedly hottest hands since Jeff “The Brabarian” Cowan had women tossing their undergarments onto the ice way back in 2007. Will the “Latvian Laser” continue to light it up tonight in a home game versus the San Jose Sharks? (I’m trademarking Latvian Laser now before the Sun's Iain MacIntyre, who gave the Russian Rocket his nickname, takes it.) Will Zack Kassian finally be released from Willie Desjardin's doghouse? Will anyone make a Left Shark reference to Super Bowl Sunday? Head to Rogers or tune in at 7 p.m. to find out.

Get politicized: Ever get the feeling elected officials and/or multinational corporations may not actually have our best interests at heart when it comes to the threat of climate change? SFU prof Mark Jaccard will discuss the threat to B.C. posed by global warming and what people can do to help stop it with a free talk called "Pipelines, Politics, and Perjury" at 7 p.m. in the Alice MacKay Room of the main branch of the Vancouver Public Library.

Get wet: The forecast is for a 100 per cent chance of rain tonight but this won’t derail the Bike Rides Society's usual bike-powered party through the city streets. The soggy Tour de Vancouver is open to everyone and gets rolling at 8 p.m. at Dude Chilling Park.
