Top 5 Vancouver Courier stories this week

Feb. 8-13, 2015

1. A guest “Soapbox” column by reader Ryan McCleery arguing that Metro Vancouver residents should vote No in the upcoming transportation plebiscite drew the most online attention this week, both in terms of visits to the post, as well as a heated debate below that at last count had 72 comments.

2. Canada’s 32-year-old relationship with the Tragically Hip may not be as hot and heavy as it once was, but plenty of people wanted to read a review of the long-running band’s recent packed concert at Rogers Arena.

3. A story about the ongoing labour disputes at Port Metro Vancouver also struck a chord to be our third most popular post this week.

4. Although few people in the Courier’s editorial department understood editor Barry Link’s reference to throwing chains in the headline, this didn’t derail readers' interest in Mike Howell’s latest update on the lack of progress with the city’s long-promised bike share program.

5. Last but not least, a column by Michael Geller suggesting some ways the second least affordable city on the planet could become a bit less so also drew lots of attention. Perhaps unsurprisingly.
