The Trump International Hotel and Tower Vancouver will open to the public at a date around January 20, which is the day set for Trump Organization founder Donald Trump to be sworn in as U.S. president.
The hotel’s general manager, Philipp Posch, told Business in Vancouver on January 11 that his hotel is taking reservations starting on the weekend that follows Friday January 20.
He said that he has not yet nailed down a date for a soft launch but that when that day comes, the hotel will quietly open its doors to the public without a ribbon-cutting event or a glitzy ceremony.
A grand-opening launch party will take place in February and may include a visit from one of the Trump family members, he said.
“We’ve got pretty much all the permits done now, except for one or two,” said Posch, who works for the Trump Organization, which is the management company for the hotel that Vancouver’s Holborn Group owns.
“The next couple days are critical for us to get everything done,” he said. “Once we have all the necessary paperwork, we’ll send out the press release and go to town.”
The hotel has been hosting banquets and weddings since September 26. It has been able to accommodate those events because access to its ballroom is possible via the FortisBC Building next door, at the corner of Thurlow and West Georgia streets.
The Trump Organization will not only oversee the 147-room hotel. It will also oversee room service to 214 residential units and both the Trump Champagne Lounge and the Chinese fine-dining restaurant Mott 32.
Those restaurants will also open concurrently with the hotel, Posch said.
“We need to start performing in the restaurant and lounge and word of mouth is going to spread,” he added.
