Update:
Vancouver police say that "thanks to the keen eye of a member of the public," a high-risk sex offender is back in custody.
On February 11, police released a statement saying that Antone Naskathey was spotted on a Sytrain in Burmaby and arrested a short time later without incident.
Naskathey has been arrested and is now in custody.
Police issued a warning the previous day, saying that the 36-year-old was a high-risk offender who has a history of breaking into homes and sexually assaulting female residents.
Naskathey had been in a temporary residence at a Vancouver halfway house. Naskathey was being transferred to a residence in Saskatchewan but, on February 8, missed the flight to Regina.
Naskathey's whereabouts are now unknown.
Police say Naskathey is a second-time federal offender currently on a six-year Long Term Supervision Order for a sexual assault. In 2001 and 2009, Naskathey was convicted for breaking into homes and sexually assaulting female residents, and has more than 50 convictions since 1994, primarily for break-and-enter, theft, and property related crimes.
Naskathey is gender variant and does identify as a female at times. Naskathey is Aboriginal, 5’10” tall, weighs 161 lbs., has long brown hair and brown eyes and is believed to be wearing a black jacket with a white stripe down the back and blue jeans.
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Naskathey's arrest.
Anyone who sees or knows the whereabouts of Antoine Naskathey is asked to call 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
