The Vancouver weather forecast included a great deal of sunshine this past week. However, things will take a decidedly damp turn tomorrow.
Not only does the forecast call for rainfall during the day on Wednesday, March 6, but it also calls for a chance of snow during the evening. In fact, it calls for a 70 per cent chance of snow or rain in the evening, and the temperature will be around one degree.
Following this, Thursday’s forecast calls for a 70 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries during the day. Thursday night’s forecast, however, only calls for a chance of rainfall.
Friday is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud, but the weekend calls for bright sunshine on both days.
Vancouver Is Awesome spoke to meteorologist Matt MacDonald who outlined what the Lower Mainland has to look forward to in the coming days.
“The snowfall isn’t likely to accumulate, because there isn’t a great deal of moisture in this particular system,” he said. “If there is an accumulation of a couple centimetres, it is more likely to occur in the Fraser Valley.”
MacDonald also said the Lower Mainland will likely see much warmer temperatures into the following week.
“We finally see the forecast breaking out of this pattern and returning to a more typical zonal flow. As a result, we won’t see those frigid lows overnight.”
Metro Vancouver Weather Forecast
February 2019 was the coldest February on record in Metro Vancouver since the records began in 1937. Not only did the month see some frigid temperatures, but they also persisted throughout the month.
Although February saw the coldest temperatures to date, it also saw some of the greatest amounts of snowfall. In fact, 31.2 cm of snowfall was recorded at YVR, making it the eighth snowiest February on record.
