Vancouver man injured in early-morning DTES shooting

A shooting in the Downtown Eastside does not appear to be random, the Vancouver Police Department says.

After gunshots were heard in the area of Jackson Avenue and Powell Street at 5:30 this morning, police arrived to find a 30-year-old Vancouver man suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and he remains in stable condition.

"The shooting does not appear to be random and no arrests have been made," says a VPD press release.

Police are releasing no further information but they are asking anyone with information about this shooting to call Major Crimes detectives at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
