Able Auctions is hosting the Vancouver Police Departments Recovered Goods Auction in East Vancouver on May 5. The auction well known for its large crowds and strange mix of recovered merchandise will offer a huge variety of goods, ranging from gold bars and a Rolex watch to high-end bikes and band equipment.

The 2012 auction offers an array of goods that suit every persons taste, but a big draw continues to be the bikes, says Rob Kavanagh of Able Auctions. This year were auctioning the biggest selection of high-end bikes weve had in recent years, with more than 400 bicycles up for grabs. Its an excellent opportunity for bargain-savvy bikers to find their perfect bike for the spring and summer seasons.

Featured bicycle brands include EMC2, Entape, Masi, Gary Fisher, Bianchi, DeVinci, Brodie, Rocky Mountain and Norco. An electric scooter and motor bikes will also go on the block.

Some of the more unique items up for grabs include a $12,500 Vacheron Constantin ladies gold watch, a bag of hammers, two blood pressure kits, a neon Tool Bench sign, leather slacks, GI Joe dolls, a leaf blower and hedge trimmer, a clarinet and a money-bill counter. Other items include Persian-style rugs, Chinese carvings, musical instruments, chain and mitre saws, two industrial pineapple presses, deodorant and a patio heater.

Electronics and computer products remain a big seller, with Apple accessories, flat-screen televisions, home and car stereo items, digital cameras and DVD players available for lucky bidders.

This year, clothing comprises a significant portion of the lot, with over 40 boxes of new clothing with price tags still attached.

For the first time, the auction will include food truck Slingers to satisfy hungry bidders with chicken parmesan, homemade marinara, provolone, onions, mushrooms & spicy eggplant on a Portuguese bun.

A public preview of all merchandise will be held Friday, May 4 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 1055 Vernon Drive in Vancouver. A selection of bikes and other items can be viewed online in advance of the auction at www.ableauctions.ca, under the General/Misc category.
