Police have laid charges against the driver of a stolen truck who evaded police on Saturday night before colliding with a number of vehicles on Main Street.

Fifty-year-old Andrew Barry Dollman of Vancouver has been charged with the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, fail to stop at an accident, and possession of stolen property. His 37-year-old female passenger has not been charged.

The incident sent four people to hospital, including Dollman and his passenger, who were arrested at the scene.

The chain of events that led to the collision began just after 5 p.m on August 25., Vancouver police say.

On Main Street near Pender, officers in a patrol car turned on their lights and sirens to pull over a suspected stolen pick-up truck. The truck's driver did not stop and kept going south on Main. Rather than risk public safety, police say, the officers decided not to pursue the truck.

A short time later, on Main at Prior Street, the truck collided with a white Ford Focus. The truck then bounced into vehicled parked along the east side of Main Street.

Anyone who may have been driving with a dash-cam in the area of Main Street in Prior at the time of the collision, or who may have witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken with police, is asked to call investigators at 604-717-3012 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
