Vancouver police are looking for any information about a stolen car that was likely used in a drive-by shooting in August.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 29, the department received 911 calls reporting the sound of gunshots in an East Vancouver neighbourhood. Investigators were able to confirm that a residence near Rupert Street and Grandview Highway was targeted and no one was injured.

Shortly after the reports of gunshots, police received a call about an older model, two-door silver Honda Civic with front-end damage driving west on Highway 1 onto the Hastings Street exit. A subsequent call came in reporting an abandoned Civic missing its front driver’s side tire on the highway exit just before Hastings Street.

Investigators determined that the Honda was stolen and, according to a press release, believe it was possibly involved in the shooting.

“Based on the obvious damage, we are confident that someone will remember seeing this vehicle,” Const. Jason Doucette said in a statement. “We would like to hear from additional witnesses who may have seen this car being driven, or people walking away from it.”

Anyone with information about the car, or its occupants on Aug. 29, is asked to call Vancouver police at 604-717-3321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
