Vancouver police are looking for a motorcyclist who witnessed an assault in the Downtown Eastside.
Just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, a man on a motorcycle pulled up beside another motorist near Main and Keefer streets and yelled at him to call 911 because he had just seen someone being beaten with a baseball bat.
The motorcyclist rode off without leaving any contact information.
Officers searched the area but were not able to find a victim, any witnesses, or a crime scene. However, hours later an injured 25-year-old man showed up in hospital where he remains in critical condition.
“At this stage of our investigation, we are not even sure if the man in the hospital is related to the incident the motorcyclist witnesses,” Const. Jason Doucette said in a statement. “Our detectives would like to speak with the man on the motorcycle to help determine what may have led to the 25-year-old’s injuries.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
