Crowds started gathering outside CBC Studios hours before the highly anticipated first Fashion's Night Out in Vancouver Sept. 6, hoping for a chance to mingle inside Studio 40 with a stylish cross-section of Vancouver's fashion talent and media.
Local designers Jason Matlo, Jacqueline Conoir's RozeMerie Cuevas and Evan Ducharme showed impressive Fall collections, with an emphasis on jewel tones and figure-hugging draping.
Daryl White's menswear collection was a studded spectacular (and we don't mean the models). Striking metal accents along the shoulders of the colourful jackets tied the edgy show together.
The gorgeous Fall collections of retailers French Connection, Miss Sixty, Wear Else, Stylista Clothing, Pilar Buse Boutique and Marilyns of West Vancouver were also revealed, with the look of the night going to Marilyn's belted poncho.
Started by Vogue in New York in 2009, Fashion's Night Out aims to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industrys economy during the recession and is now an eagerly awaited annual event for the fashion forward in 18 countries.
After the show, local retailers such as French Connection, Tiffany & Co. and J Crew, centered largely along Robson and Alberni Streets in Vancouver, put on exclusive in-store events like live music, photo booths and makeovers during and after the runway show to keep the evening's festivities alive.
