Vancouver teen gets surprise Jazz Fest gig

The 2012 TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival had many "special" moments, says spokesperson John Orysik, including the very successful move downtown. "But there is one moment that we wanted to share with with you," he wrote in an email on Sunday.

The 2012 TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival had many "special" moments, says spokesperson John Orysik, including the very successful move downtown.

"But there is one moment that we wanted to share with with you," he wrote in an email on Sunday. "Last night one of our Jazz Fest interns/volunteers was randomly plucked from the audience at Robert Randolph's Vogue Theatre show to play guitar."

That young player, Peter Haley, "was so good he had the house on their feet and Randolph himself agog. We knew Peter played guitar but not like this!"

Here's a video of part of Peter's performance. As luck would have it, his parents were in the audience to watch.
