The award-winning VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre celebrated its first birthday Oct. 23 and the long-running local tourist attraction is reporting a 25 per cent increase in visitors and revenue since the facility opened last year. Garden membership numbers are also reported to be up significantly. The design team of architect Perkins + Will and landscape architect Cornelia Hahn Oberland-er developed the master plan for the $21.9million facility, designed to be self-sufficient and produce as much energy as it uses, making it both energy and carbon neutral.
