Female firefighters from Metro Vancouver hosted a fire fighting mentorship camp for teenaged girls, Aug. 5, 6 and 7. The boot camp took place in Vancouver and North Vancouver and included participants aged 16 to 18 from across the Lower Mainland.
It was designed to introduce young women to the male-dominated profession. Participants learned skills ranging from fire fighting and search and rescue techniques to fire extinguisher use.
Equipment and funding was provided by several municipalities.
