Don’t know your blockchain from your bitcoin? 2018 might be the year to fix that.

In fact, fresh off bitcoin's most high-profile year ever, Vancouver was just highlighted as a possible “global cryptocurrency hub” by industry experts in Business in Vancouver (BIV) this week, as large markets like China and the U.S. crackdown on its sale.

If you’re curious how that might impact you, BIV is hosting an expert discussion panel on Jan. 18 to demystify blockchain – a digital ledger that tracks cryptocurrency transactions – for the skeptics among us, and “evaluate its opportunities in B.C.”

Speakers include fintech, artificial intelligence and blockchain law thought leader Christine Duhaime of the Digital Finance Institute; crypto currency expert and MNP partner Brian Beveridge; business lawyer Kelly Samuels; and BIV editor-in-chief Kirk LaPointe.

Tickets to the panel discussion and post-talk mingler are $59 for BIV subscribers and $69 for the general public. The event runs from 3:30-6 p.m. at Vancity Theatre. You can register here.
