Where to recycle your Christmas tree in Vancouver

Drop off your (undecorated) tree at 6804 SW Marine Drive, 9:30am to 4:30pm, from now until January 9. BotanicalGarden.UBC.ca

If your tradition is to wait until the Feast of the Epiphany (the 12th day of Christmas) to take down your tree, on Jan. 6 bring it over to Kingsgate Mall (370 E. Broadway), by donation, from 5:30 to 7pm. Proceeds will be donated to the Mount Pleasant Elementary School to help send their students on field trips. MainStreetBIA.com

Now that the holiday season is over, Vancouver residents can recycle their cut, live Christmas trees and reduce Vancouver's environmental footprint. Please ensure all tinsel, lights and decorations are removed. Real trees only please!

There are several ways residents can participate:

* Drop off their Christmas tree at a Lions Club neighbourhood chipping event

* Have it picked up on their yard trimmings collection day

* Drop it off (no charge) at the Vancouver South Transfer Station or Vancouver Landfill

Lions Club Tree Chipping Event

Residents can bring their tree for chipping and help the Lions Club with donations of cash and non-perishable food items for local charities.

The chipping events will be held in four locations around the city on Saturday, January 5 or Sunday, January 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at:

* Kerrisdale Community Ice Rink parking lot

East Boulevard north of 41st Ave.

* Kitsilano Beach parking lot

Cornwall Ave. and Arbutus St.

* Sunset Beach upper parking lot

Beach Avenue and Broughton St.

Yard trimming/ food scraps collection

Residents who receive City yard trimmings/ food scraps collection can put their Christmas tree out before 7 a.m. on their regular yard trimmings collection day until January 31.

Transfer Station and Landfill

Residents can also drop off trees for free until January 31 at the Vancouver South Transfer Station at 377 Kent Ave. North, or the Vancouver Landfill at 5400 72nd St. in Delta.
