RANTS: Do you know this cat?

Every once in a while we get a phone call into the newsroom that tugs at our hardened heartstrings. This week, a good Samaritan called in on press day to report she had found a cat while walking to work. Not just any cat, though. A stuffed, toy cat.

Every once in a while we get a phone call into the newsroom that tugs at our hardened heartstrings. This week, a good Samaritan called in on press day to report she had found a cat while walking to work. Not just any cat, though. A stuffed, toy cat. With just enough wear-and-tear to reveal that it is probably missed dearly.

Wed love to help reunite this wayward companion with its rightful owner. Email [email protected] with which bridge you suspect Kitty Walksalot was picked up on, and well put you in touch with his foster mom for verification. Even if its not your cat, feel free to email in your own stories about the stuffed heroes of your childhood.

And with that bit of hard news out of the way, we leave you this:

Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things dont matter at all, because once you are Real you cant be ugly, except to people who dont understand. The Velveteen Rabbit

To the many passersby who came immediately to my assistance when I collapsed onto the sidewalk at Davie and Cardero. They were all so kind and helpful, and really restored my faith they propped me up and called an ambulance. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone.

A grateful Westender
