As I reflect on the events of the past week, I am reminded of the 1968 Dionne Warwick song “Promises, Promises” from the Broadway play of the same name. Three promises were very much in the news.

The B.C. government backed up last week and took another run at the concept of happy hour, after the first one turned some people sad.

We have had a plot between Pine and Fir Street since the day it became available in 2006. It has been not just a source of food but of inspiration and education for me and my two young children, who were babies at the time we acquired the plot.

Those “trespassing” gardeners are at it again.

They call it a seven-year itch for a reason. The common notion that romantic love dies after the “honeymoon phase” is certainly a prevalent belief. Some people even go as far to say that marriage and commitment is a romance killer.
