The 2016 national collegiate golf championship was held in Prince Edward Island.

Newly minted an All-Canadian, Langara Falcon Jacob Vanderpas finished tied for seventh at the national collegiate golf championships last week in Prince Edward Island.

Over three rounds held Oct. 19 through 21 at Fox Meadow Golf Club, Vanderpas shot four over par, nine strokes back of the winner from the Niagara College Knights, Josiah Dixon.

Before the field of 78 began the tournament, Vanderpass was named an All-Canadian by the Canadian College Athletic Association at the national banquet hosted by Holland College in Charlottetown. The award is based on a player’s performance and contribution to the sport as well as their team.

One of 10 chosen from across the country, Vanderpas helped the Falcons to a PacWest provincial title as the individual B.C. champion.

At the national championships, he had 10 birdies and was in sole possession of fifth place when he double-bogeyed the 18th hole in the final round. The score dropped him into a three-way tie for seventh.
