Surrey Civic Theatres offers a unique treat for adults this spring that combines the world of surrealism with storytelling.

Described as an 'adult puppet show,' Metamorphosis takes viewers on an engaging journey through an enchanting series of vignettes that range from the trivial to the metaphysical.

What's more, the live performance includes a wide cast of characters, from intricate marionettes and rod puppets carved of wood, to personalities created simply with silk scarves and the hands and feet of the puppeteer himself.

Created and performed by Iceland’s famed master puppeteer Bernd Ogrodnik, the narratives explore the nature of human existence. Further, they invite audience members to question the objects of their everyday lives.

“There is a surreal quality inherent in puppetry,” says Ogrodnik, Artistic Director and Co-Founder of the Iceland-based Worlds of Puppets.

“When the audience actively contributes to the process of bringing puppets to life, breathing these fragile figures into existence, they have the capacity to express our deepest emotions, joys, and fears; thereby, creating magic and provoking thought."

The event takes place on Wednesday, March 13 at the Centre Stage at the Surrey City Hall.
