A Vancouver-based non-profit is going to try and break a Guinness world record for the most people performing a drum roll online simultaneously.

The 5th Annual Canada Day Drumming is going to happen online again this year due to the pandemic, with 1,000 people from 148 Canadian cities and 26 international cities in 13 countries from around the world taking part.

The goal continues is to create “intercultural understanding through the medium of drumming” with the tradition of drumming across Canada simultaneously for six minutes at noon on Canada Day.

The virtual event itself, outside of the drum bid, will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will be filled with multicultural drumming performances and interactive workshops.

“By uniting participants from all communities and cultural backgrounds, this event aims to celebrate Canada Day through simultaneous nationwide drumming to promote diversity, multicultural harmony, peace, and love for a better world,” read a statement from the organizers.
