As the first place in Vancouver to hold a Car Free Day event, Commercial Drive is a creative and eclectic neighbourhood east of downtown.

This year, Car Free Day on The Drive takes place on Sunday, July 7 from noon to 7 p.m., and will take over Commercial Drive from Venables to North Grandview. As such, the festival will offer a whopping 15 blocks of amazing local artisans, musicians, community activities, delicious food, tons of entertainment and activities for all ages.

Since its inception, Commercial Drive has been an important part of what Car Free Day stands for. There is a strong message of advocacy and activism for providing car free spaces and green culture for the community.

TransLink has also rerouted to ensure that transit doesn’t interfere with the festival. However, guests are encouraged to walk, take transit, or ride their bikes to the festival, as it is Car Free Day.
