Drunk guy finds one of B.C.'s most costly parking spots

A northern B.C. man's truck was impounded and he was hit with a 90-day roadside suspension after taking a parking space in the one lot you shouldn't – the secured lot of the Kamloops RCMP.

According to a press release, the man said he was looking for a place to make a phone call. He was attempting to park his pickup truck first (responsible!) but didn't notice the signs that told him he was in the RCMP lot that is closed to the public.

When officers saw the man struggling to park the truck, they approached him and smelled that the "driver had an overpowering odour of liquor" on his breath (very not responsible!).

Officers used a road-side screening device to determine that he was in fact, impaired. He was then issued an immediate roadside prohibition.

"Kamloops RCMP remind motorists that it is never safe to drink and drive … on roads, highways or in police parking lots," said the release by Cpl. Jodi Shelkie.
