Vancouver is getting a drone light show in September.

Vancouver's skyline is often glittering at night with the twinkle of street lights and office buildings, but what about just above it?

False Creek will be the setting for a visual spectacle not seen before in Vancouver, according to organizers of the Open Air Gala.

Pixel Sky Animations is a Vancouver-based drone art company launching in Vancouver.

"For the first time, Pixel Sky will be showcasing their fleet of drones with powerful LEDs that are harmoniously synced with the music in a breathtaking and memorable experience," organizers state, adding it's the "first-ever live drone show in Vancouver."

Last December, a holiday-themed drone show from Best Buy and North Star, slated for the waterfront at Canada's Place, was cancelled at the last minute due to technical issues.

Pixel's event is a 700-person ticket affair on the seawall outside Science World, as well as the rotunda inside, on Friday, Sept. 15.

While the drone show will be the most visible part of the event, there will also be performances from L.A.-based Ray Kash and Maritimer Dezza.

There's also going to be a visual art component, a "virtual reality experience booth" and cocktails from local brand Bootleggers.

Tickets for the event are $49.26 for general admission or $96.12 for the VIP experience.
