Despite being badly damaged by a fire in 2023, the Kitsilano Showboat will be hosting 20 nights of free entertainment near Kitsilano Beach in June and July 2024.

After being damaged in a fire last year, the stage at the Kitsilano Showboat is back for the 2024 season with a full season of free performances.

The Showboat, which is next to the currently unusable Kitsilano Pool, has announced shows every weekend from June 21 to July 28 as part of the historic stage's 89th year.

“We're still recovering from the fire,” says Kitsilano Showboat Society President Barry Leinbach in a press release. “We are putting on 20 nights of entertainment with over 40 acts performing in front of a burned building.”

The season launches on Friday with National Indigenous Peoples Day with performances from Steven Seegerts and Katisha Paul, followed by the Vancouver School of Highland Dance and Chris Ronald on Saturday, June 22.

During Greek Days on Broadway in Kitsilano on Sunday, June 23, the Kitsilano High School Band will take the stage.

Other highlights this season include Multicultural Day on June 27, a full day of family-friendly activities on Canada Day, and the Kits Point All Stars closing down the year on July 28.

Performances this summer will include a martial arts group, Polynesian dancers, a steel drum band, and Brazillian rock. A full schedule is on the group's Facebook page.

The Showboat will also host Celebration of Light nights with the fireworks show's music played over the venue's sound system on July 20 and 27.

Shows are free on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 7 p.m. from Friday, June 21 to Sunday, July 28.
