Local family invites you to their "best little haunted house in Vancouver"

Trina Rundgren and her husband take Halloween really seriously, and each year they put on a small haunted house at their South Vancouver home that doubles as a fundraiser and a great community event.

You probably have a friend or two who goes all out for Halloween, from costumes to decorations to pumpkin all the things as soon as midnight strikes at the end of Labour Day.

But Trina Rundgren and her husband take Halloween really seriously, and each year they put on a small haunted house at their South Vancouver home that doubles as a fundraiser and a great community event. It might not come as surprise to learn that Halloween is also the couple's wedding anniversary.

Every October their home at 2270 Lower Skipper Place turns into what they've dubbed the "best little haunted house in Vancouver."

Anyone is invited to come check out the scares they have in store for the season; the haunted house operates this year on October 26, 27, 28, and 31 in the evenings.

It's free and family-friendly (so long as you or the kids don't mind skeletons and cobwebs and other creepy stuff) but the family asks that you bring a cash or non-perishable food donation for the Vancouver Food Bank as admission. In 2017, says Rundgren, they collected over 200 pounds of food and $300 cash for the food bank.

Doing the haunted house, says Rundgren is "how we love to celebrate. Scaring people and giving back to the community."
