The 2024 Pokémon Regional Championship is in Vancouver from March 22 to 24, 2024.

Three days of pocket monster battles are coming to Vancouver later this month.

The 2024 Pokemon Regional Championships will be in town from March 22 to 24, taking over the Vancouver Convention Centre for a weekend's worth of digital and card-based beasts fighting each other.

It's one of only two Canadian events, though there are 12 such tournaments in North America.

Players will be facing off over Pokemon Go, the card game (TCG) and Pokemon video games (VGC), with a chance to advance to the world stage as players try to gain Championship Points. There will also be prizes, with $50,000 spread across several categories.

"The Champion in each age division for the Pokémon TCG, VGC, and Pokémon GO will earn a guaranteed invitation to the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, regardless of their Championship Point total at the end of the season," reads the Pokemon website.

The Vancouver event will see side events as well, separate from the main tournament, including a parent tournament.

The family-friendly competition is expected to pack the convention hall and will be "highlighted by intense head-to-head battles and an energetic crowd of family, fans, and supporters cheering competitors on," according to a media release for the event.

There are player registration fees ($83 to $93); tickets for spectators are $26.
