Do you recognize this below cover of Life from 1965? Patti McGee is pictured doing a handstand on it and it's one of the most iconic images of skateboarding from the era. Or at least the most-seen image by people not directly involved in the sport.

The first ever woman to be inducted into the Skateboard Hall of Fame, she inspired a generation. She's going to be in Vancouver this Thursday to hopefully inspire some of you.
Now 72 years old, Patti is on what's being called the Boarder to Border tour where she's talking about her many achievements on and off her board.
She'll be doing a FREE meet and greet at P.D.'s Hot Shop at 3734 West 10th Avenue on Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm. It's all ages, it's free, and is being sponsored by Skull Skates, Silly Girl Skateboards, Teal Press, Juice Magazine and P.D.’s Hot Shop.
