A day of live music is coming to The Shipyards District.

A bunch of bands are coming to Lower Lonsdale for a day of live music and family good times.

From noon till night on Saturday, Sept. 17, local favourites Said the Whale and Yukon Blonde will rock out at this year’s Shipyards Festival.

They’ll hit one of five performance areas at the free event, presented by The Shipyards District Business Improvement Area.

New this year is Car Free Day North Vancouver, sponsored by TransLink. Carrie Cates will become a pedestrian-only zone with musicians Blonde Diamond, Vox Rea, Bookclub, Redwoods, Kylie V, Anton Seth, Sarah Osborne, Tobacco Brown and Moving City on stage there.

Said the Whale, Bratpack, Teon Gibbs, Babe Corner, Uncle Strut, Girly., Ahsia, KeAloha and Holy Felix will play the Commons Stage.

Yukon Blonde, RainCity, Adewolf, Les Leosis, Ellevator, Bad Magic, Off Topic, Nikkaela and Noodle Boys will perform at Shipbuilders Square Stage.

Returning this year for the kiddos is Seaspan Family Zone in the Pipe Shop, which will host performances from Robin Reddy, Mom Bop and juggler extraordinaire Mike Battie. There will also be bouncy castles, face painting, crafts and balloon art.

The Burrard Dry Dock will feature acoustic performances with artists being announced soon.

As parking will be limited, organizers are asking the public to consider sustainable transportation like biking, walking and transit. A bike valet service will be on site.

Organizers are also warning of the following road closure: Wallace Mew’s, Victory Ship Way, Carrie Cates and Lower Londsale below Esplanade will be closed from 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

Vendor applications are still being accepted.
