I'm no expert in photography, but I recently saw this photo by Jeff Wall and thought...'Man alive, that's Chibbs!'  Ben Chibber is the owner of the Dryspot and Monke skateboards, back in 1991, he was one of the most serious skaterats downtown when he was approached to do the photo.

"I was just skating the art gallery which was the hub for skateboarding downtown and a lady shot my polaroid."  She also shot several other skaters but Ben was ultimately chosen for the photograph.  Digital photography is now the most common form of photography but in 1991 it was just emerging, 'Stumbling Block' is an early example of this technology.  "The picture of me was shot in a studio, it was just me  and maybe a couple other guys, they recreated the whole scene, I don't even remember if the lady was falling, or if she was even there, he shot the rest of it at other times then layered the photos or something."

Ben collected his $100 and didn't think much of it until almost ten years later, when people started mentioning to him that he was in a 'famous photo'.  "I think it's studied in school, I know it's been in galleries all around the world."  The photo is life size and he has never actually seen it but a couple weeks back he heard it was showing in New York, he emailed the gallery owner and she was nice enough to send him a copy.
