Coldplay announced a second Vancouver concert date due to "extremely high demand" after fans flocked to buy concert tickets.

Among the many singers making tour stops in Vancouver next year, Coldplay's recently added tour dates has fans in a frenzy.

The popular band announced a series of West Coast dates for its "Music of the Spheres" world tour earlier this week on Monday (Jan. 23).

Coldplay was originally set to perform in Vancouver on Sept. 22 but added a second date on Sept. 23 after an overwhelming response from locals.

Tickets for the Sept. 22 concert went on sale Friday (Jan. 27) and fans found themselves among over 2,000 people waiting hours in queue.

Once folks reached their turn to buy tickets, some were dismayed at the prices.

Shortly after ticket sales for the Sept. 22 date opened, another date was added. "Due to extremely high demand a second show has been added to BC Place Stadium on September 23," says a Ticketmaster notification.

Tickets for the second Vancouver tour date will open on Jan. 30 at 10 a.m.
