This past December I received an email from a guy named Julian DeSchutter who was starting up a new effort to collect warm coats and winter clothing for people in Vancouver who needed it. From what I could gather he and his team had no experience with fundraising or charity, they were just a group of thoughtful citizens looking to help. So I offered them a few hundred dollars in free advertising as a donation and helped them raise awareness, and apparently they brought in a bunch of donations over the winter.
I received another letter from Julian today, this one in the actual mail, and it contained the photo below and a thank you note, saying that over 2 months in the winter they managed to gather donations of more than 700 items for the needy. A bunch of people helped raise awareness around this, and a bunch of people ponied up and donated clothing. That is awesome. You are awesome.
